Rulani Mokwena demotes Mamelodi Sundowns legend-report 

Rulani Mokwena’s control and hold at Mamelodi Sundowns has grown in leaps and bounds over the last season, and he is about to demonstrate his power on a club legend.

Having already reshuffled his first team coaching staff, Mokwena is now believed to be making changes to the DStv Diski Challenge management.

One person that is set to be affected by those changes is the head coach of the Sundowns DDC side, and club legend Surprise Moriri. Moriri had a glowing career as a player at Ka bo Yellow, and even featured for Bafana Bafana. During his over a decade stay at the club as a player, the former playmaker earned himself, the fan favourite tag, playing in some of the most successful and stylish sides from the clubs past.

At the end of his playing career, Moriri was employed into the coaching structures of the club, with his role being to teach the next generation of Sundowns players, about the traditions and style of football, in the youth ranks. But now, it looks as if he is set to be replaced according to Soccer-Laduma. 

Mokwena to demote Moriri at Sundowns?

“There are changes that are being planned at Sundowns for their DStv Diski Challenge team as Surprise Moriri is likely to be replaced in his role as the coach of the side. Sinethemba Badela, who coached All Stars last season, is set to be the new coach of the DDC team, He is a good coach who is earmarked for bigger things at the club. He could be one of the candidates for a first-team role in future even if as an assistant to coach Rhulani (Mokwena) if further changes are made. Surprise will remain with the club, from what I understand, but in a different role,” said a source tot eh same publication.

It now remains to be seen if Mokwena will follow through with the move and which role Moriri will then take up at Sundowns.
