Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune could be set for a shock transfer to another PSL club according to reports!

Khune has been a one club man since being promoted to the Chiefs first team as far back as 2004.

Over the years, Khune has been a stalwart for Chiefs, being their number one goalkeeper for well over a decade. In recent years, however, the 36-year-old has been plagued by injuries and lack of form, which have seen him dropped. With the club failing to find a regular goalkeeper to take over, they have often called on him repeatedly.

He recently returned with a Man of the Match performance for the Carling All Stars XI. The country got to see yet another glimpse of what he is still capable of in front of the sticks. With Chiefs making a statement that Khune will retire, he came out to say he isn’t ready to do so. Therefore, he might have to find another club next season.

Khune will be available on a free transfer should he leave Chiefs and now according to Soccer-Laduma he has attracted the shock interest of Sekhukhune United!

Sekhukhune to tempt Khune away from Chiefs?

“With his current situation at the club even he himself is not sure whether his contract will be renewed or not at the end of the season. So he is a person before being a player and he has to look after his future and that’s why he will consider the offer from Sekhukhune United. It’s not just a football player offer. It’s like offering him a retirement package saying ‘come play for us’ for three seasons, retire and work for us. That’s what they wanted to do with Morgan Gould and Willard Katsande.” Said the source to publication.

Khune’s future has perhaps, become even less secure after his disciplinary issues at Chiefs this season. With the player making it no secret he wants to prolong his career, a fresh start away might be what he needs.
