REVEALED: Shocking details of what REALLY happened between Kaizer Chiefs and Khama Billiat! 

Kaizer Chiefs dropped a bombshell over the weekend, as they announced that star winger Khama Billiat has decided to go AWOL.

Billiat’s contract at Chiefs expired on 30 June, meaning he is currently a free agent and not obligated to be in camp with Amakhosi.

Billiat’s Chiefs future has been a great mystery for a while now, much like that of club legend and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune. There was plenty speculation over the future of the veteran goal minder, with speculation suggesting that if he is retained by the club, it would be in a non-playing capacity. But in the end, that situation was resolved and Khune was confirmed to stay on at the club with the only other big expected announcement being that of the future of the former Zimbabwean international.

After a few mixed messages in the last couple of months, it finally started looking positive for Billiat and Chiefs. The two parties seem to have agreed on a possible deal that works for both parties and that would involve the player agreeing to reduced wages in order to stay at the club. It started looking even more likely that he was set to stay as he was pictured back at the club for pre-season, wearing their new navy Kappa tracksuits.

But before anyone knew it, Billiat started disappearing from the Chiefs pre-season pictures. It was then reported that the player was not part of the group that was heading out to the pre-season training camp soon. Then over the weekend, it was finally confirmed by the club that the player was indeed offered a contract but he hasn’t communicated his decision to the club yet. Now according to KickOff.com, there was a lot more where that came from.

“KickOff has been reliably informed the latest contract offer tabled by Chiefs was initially set to include a huge 50% pay-cut which the 32-year-old was hoping to negotiate to improve the terms of the deal. Days later instead of improving their offer, Chiefs then further reduced their salary offer that would see the player’s financial package be lessened even further. Billiat then stormed out of negotiations without signing the offer with Chiefs insisting that the player agree to their terms while being reminded to appreciate what the club had done for the player. The former Ajax Cape Town star – who works without any established agent – chose not to be strong-armed into signing the offer made by Chiefs leading to the player ending communication with the club’s hierarchy.” Wrote the publication.
