ICYMI: Breaking Chiefs news on 13 November

Kaizer Chiefs have no fluency in attack

Against Pirates, Chiefs mustered seven shots and only ONE of them was on target. No wonder the club have scored just 12 goals in 12 league games this term. In 2022-23 they scored 32 times in 30 games, meaning they’re already below that seriously modest goals per game average.

No reliable first-choice goalkeeper

Itumeleng Khune has made the odd appearance this term, while designated first-choice keeper Brandon Petersen has made several public howlers leading to goals. Bruce Bvuma, meanwhile, hasn’t been trusted between the sticks. Will the club seek a solution in the January transfer window?

Struggling for clean sheets

It’s been eight games without a shutout now for the Glamour Boys. That follows the weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates. The last time Chiefs kept a clean sheet was against Royal AM (0-0 draw) in September. Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart all started in midfield against Pirates which is quite a defensive-minded trio. They don’t look to be creatively functional together yet. Essentially, from back to front, Chiefs are battling to meet expectations in all departments on the pitch.
