Revealed | How much Thembinkosi Lorch could be earning at Mamelodi Sundowns!

Mamelodi Sundowns made one of the biggest statements in South African football history by signing Thembinkosi Lorch from Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns were able to complete the shock signing of Lorch on transfer deadline day, blindsiding Pirates fans.

Despite already cruising in the DStv Premiership, Sundowns were the most active side in the January window. The Brazilians already have a nine-point gap on second placed Cape Town City, with three games in hand. Thad did not stop them from pursuing a squad boost ahead of the second half of the season. Of course for them, they also have to factor continental commitments with hopes of a Club FIFA World Cup too.

Now with that on the horizon, Sundowns went and signed the Likes of Zukho Mdunyelwa, Matias Esquivel. Then when everybody thought that they had strengthened enough, they add Lorch and Tashreeq Matthews. It was the signing of a talisman from their rivals, Pirates, which garnered the most headlines. ‘Nyoso’ has since sent a departure message to the Bucs.

Now Lorch completing the move from Pirates to Sundowns, the inevitable speculation over his salary has begun. It is no secret that Masandawana pay well, which is a legacy former chairman Patrice Motsepe was determined to leave at the club. Several top players have benefitted from that and the playmaker is set to be one of them. It was previously reported that at the Ghosts, he could’ve earned in the range of R50 000 to R165 000 pm. 

Lorch will be earning around R450 000 at Sundowns?

At Sundowns it is believed that Bongani Zungu is the clubs top earned with a whooping R700 000 salary per month. This coming from a report from briefly.co.za . That makes sense as the player was coming back from years overseas. Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is the highest earner of the players to move from a local rival at R500 000. It is therefore not hard to see Lorch earning a similar figure or even just less at R450 000. But maybe because of his age and plethora of options The Brazilians have in his position it could be R350 00-300 000.

Either way, Lorch is undoubtedly set to benefit from a big pay day at Sundowns, a clear upgrade from his salary at Pirates.
