Since last season concluded, Chiefs and Pirates have both dramatically overhauled their squads in hopes of breaking their PSL title drought, but it remains to be seen whether they’d be able to compete with perennial champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Week 1 fixtures for the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season have recently been released – and Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have tough opponents to kick-start their campaigns!

Amakhosi and the Buccaneers are not the only ones with difficult starts as the same can be said for defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Kaizer Chiefs face a tricky away fixture against Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Royal AM. Orlando Pirates will meanwhile play host to Swallows FC at the Orlando Stadium, while current champions Mamelodi Sundowns will start their title defence at the Cape Town Stadium when they take on Cape Town City FC on Friday, 5 August.
