Pitso Mosimane suffers heartbreak in mega-money Arab cup

Pitso Mosimane’s side Al Wahda suffered a heartbreaking quarterfinal penalty shootout loss in the 2023 Arab Champions Cup .

Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda went down against Saudi Arabia side Al Shabab in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Arab Champions Cup.

The Saudi Arabian side held their nerve during a penalty shootout after the match ended goalless to book their place in the semi-finals.

Pitso Mosimane’s side finished as runner’s up in Group D, three points behind Josef Zinnbauer’s Raja Casablanca.

The semi-finals will see Saudi giants Al Hilal and Al Shabab while Iraq’s Al Shorta face Saudi’s Al Nasr.

Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda crash out of Arab Cup

Pitso Mosimane joined Al Wahda FC in the United Arab Emirates last month.

“Al Wahda Football Club Company announces the completion of contracting procedures with Mr Pitso Mosimane in order to technically lead the first team.”

“The club’s board of directors welcomed Mosimane to the home of the champions, wishing him success in meeting the aspirations of the club’s leadership and management and its fans.”

Vilakazi pays tribute to Mmodi

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Pule Mmodi’s mother has tragically passed away, the club confirmed on Friday.

Mmodi will play no part in this weekend’s action following the loss of his mother.

Pule Mmodi secured a dream from Golden Arrows to the Glamour Boys.

His former coach Nhlanhla Vilakazi has since opened up on losing his star man.

“Psychologically, he is definitely strong. He is a very strong somebody. I know that when he was playing for us, in the last six months, everyone was saying, ‘Pule must stay on the side’ because he is leaving the club. But he still played his part, so he is strong mentally, and I am sure he will do wonders for Kaizer Chiefs.” Vilakazi told members of the media.
