Ratomo has always been open about looking up to Lorch, and being honoured to share the same field as him, but now, reality is that they are competing for places at Pirates.

That, alone is testament to the rise of the 17-year-old who featured in a handful of matches for the Pirates first team and finished the season with two goals. Such performances have only heightened Ratomo’s reputation with the Buccaneers faithful, who had long been calling for his promotion into the senior side. Even after getting in to the match day squad, they still had to wait to see the player make his debut, as he started of as an unused substitute.

Ratomo eventually made his debut and has not looked back since, making two appearances in the DStv Premiership and scoring two goals while laying down one assist. That early promise has seen the Pirates management reportedly decide against loaning the youngster out next season, with the club believing that, with them competing in five competitions they will need as much depth in all departments.

His stock has continued to rise, after some top performances on Pirates’ pre-season tour, which have seen a few European clubs inquire about Ratomo. But all indications are that he will stay at the Sea Robbers and form a very important part of their first team. He is set to share many more moments with his idol Lorch together on the field, but in training, they might meet time and time again.

Now according to a picture posted on Ratomo’s Instagram account, he is seen leaving Lorch for deal and forcing the stalwart to track back. A very exhausted ‘Nyoso’ did not seem like he was too pleased with having to do that.
