Shalulile on target as Sundowns break Chippa United hearts!

Mamelodi Sundowns returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday.

Mamelodi Sundowns returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday.

Peter Shalulile scored the only goal of the game deep into stopping time to ensure that Sundowns return to the summit of the PSL log.

Both teams went into this encounter on the back of defeats, and they made five changes each to the startling line-ups that featured in their last matches.

The game started with so much pace in front of an electrifying crowd, and it was Sundowns who really showed early intentions.

All credit should go to Chippa United goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua who was outstanding in between the sticks as Sundowns threw everything at the home side.

Sundowns continued to press high up and put Chippa United under pressure in the second half while seeking to poke holes to their defence

Kazapua again stood between Sundowns and a goal with some fantastic saves for Chippa United midway through the second half.

It was in the closing stages of the game when Kazapua denied Aubrey Modiba with a brilliant save from a free-kick situation outside the box.

Kazapua was again instrumental as he denied Themba Zwane minutes before full-time, throwing his body on the line to concede a corner.

However, Sundowns’ breakthrough came very late into the game as Shalulile fired past Kazapua for his fifth goal of the season.

There was late drama as Modiba was shown a second yellow card for time wasting tactics, and he was dismissed.
