Gallants taken to court for playing Chiefs in Rustenburg – report

Marumo Gallants have been taken to court by the Polokwane Municipality who are challenging their decision to play Kaizer Chiefs in Rustenburg.

Gallants and Chiefs face off in the league on Sunday, and according to the PSL, this fixture is pencilled for Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

Now, according to Unplayable, the Polokwane Municipality isn’t happy about Gallants’ decision, and have therefore, taken the matter to the Polokwane High Court.

And that’s because the agreement entered into by Gallants and the Municipality is that Abram Sello’s owned club play ALL their home games at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

At this stage, it is unclear what led to Gallants’ decision to move the game initially penciled for Peter Mokaba Stadium to the North West province.

However, what’s evident is that they did that without, at least, letting the Polokwane Municipality know hence the matter is now before the Polokwane High Court.

COULD THE MATCH BETWEEN GALLANTS AND CHIEFS BE STOPPED?

According to FarPost, the Polokwane Municipality wants this encounter between Gallants and Chiefs in Rustenburg stopped altogether.

The matter sat briefly on Wednesday afternoon but the High Court postponed it to Thursday, 8 September at 14:00 to allow Gallants to file their papers.

Gallants have been in the news this week following the resignation of Romain Folz who complained about the interference from the management.
