A player like Souaibou Marou has been branded about as an imminent exit, with the Cameroonian striker thought to be accompanied compatriot Bienvenu Eva Nga.

Pirates looking to cut squad down

Both of the strikers have had very little impact since joining Pirates, with Eva Nga joining from Chippa United at the beginning of the season, while Marou entered the Buccaneers ship from his native. Much was expected of Marou having been part of a Cameroon squad that featured many players playing abroad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He is now thought to be available for transfer in the current transfer window.

Now the Cameroonian duo may not be the only West African players that could be set to leave Pirates during the current transfer window. Now in news that may come as a shock to many, it is believed that the Buccaneers are willing to listen to offers to one of their experienced internationals in goalkeeper Richard Ofori

Ofori in the shop window?

Although Ofori is one of the senior players and leaders in the squad, he has found himself further down the goalkeeping pecking order at Pirates in the past two seasons. His injuries seem to have finally cost him his place as he is now seemingly third choice keeper behind Sipho Chaine as well as Melusi Buthelezi. Despite that, he still found his way into the Ghana 23-man squad for the AFCON.

According to Soccer-Laduma Pirates are hoping that Ofori gets a chance to play for Ghana in Ivory Coast, therefore putting himself in the shop window for a transfer.

International move on the horizon?

“Pirates still have plans to extend Ofori’s contract by one year, the idea is to sell him abroad. The club believe the two goalkeepers that have been playing are more than capable of taking the team further. The thing about Ofori is that, he is an experienced goalkeeper who also has a role to play in the national team of Ghana. Selling him abroad would make business sense for the club at his age” said the source.

It remains to be seen if Ofori will have different fortunes with Ghana at Afcon, than he has had for Pirates so far this season.
