Orlando Pirates to ring the changes for Crystal Lake clash?

Jose Riveiro has confirmed that the Orlando Pirates will be resting some of its regulars when they tackle minnows Crystal Lake!

Orlando Pirates fans can expect to see some new faces in their side’s Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash against Crystal Lake.

The Buccaneers begin their title defence on Saturday afternoon at the Mbombela Stadium when they face Bushbuckridge based fourth tier side Crystal Lake.

Jose Riveiro has since confirmed that a few changes will be made to his side when they face the minnows in the Nedbank Cup.

“Yes we will try and give chances, not because it’s Crystal Lake but we have 34 players, everyone is pushing, the new ones, the old ones, everyone is pushing” – Jose Riveiro told iDiskiTimes.

“Hopefully we can see the new players soon, not that we’re looking at the game as some game to test things, but we won’t have Miguel Timm for example, so we’ll see who will take that opportunity for example.”

In other news, Rhulani Mokwena was left frustrated with referee Thando Ndzandzeka after his side’s 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership.

Things simply didn’t click for both teams at a packed Loftus Versfeld Stadium and Mokwena has since voiced his frustrations.

“I didn’t like the game today. It’s not a game of football,” Sundowns coach Mokwena told SuperSport TV as quoted by IdiskiTimes following the Orlando Pirates clash.

“First time that I don’t like my team. Not at all and of course a game of football you need three good teams and I don’t like my team today, I don’t think the referees were good today either.

“I never complain about referees but I don’t think they were good today. I think Orlando Pirates put up a fight.”

Mamelodi Sundowns will be facing La Masia on Tuesday evening in their Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash.

The last time the Brazilians lifted the Nedbank Cup trophy was in 2022. Last season’s champions were Orlando Pirates.
