Orlando Pirates source reveals what is likely to happen to Thembinkosi Lorch

Orlando Pirates playmaker Thembinkosi Lorch cannot seem to catch a break at the moment, whether it be due to injury or disciplinary issues.

Lorch has spent the better part of the last three campaigns injured, but whenever he has returned, he has always reminded Pirates fans of his abilities.

 

Lorch was on fire for Pirates

Those abilities have never really been doubted by the fans of Pirates, but Lorch as not helped his cause over the last couple of years. He has had a whole host of disciplinary issues which have been accompanied by an equal amount of injuries. The last couple of months had started to feel like a bit of a reprieve for the talisman, as he had seen his sentencing postponed and then also recovered from his troubling injuries.

He then topped that all off with a terrific run of games which had seen him winning three man of the match performances in a row, before also proving his work ethic, in a workmanlike performance for Pirates over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby victory. Unfortunately, however, Lorch’s demons have seemed to catch up with him, as last week, he was handed a five-year suspended jail sentence for a domestic violence case. 

Likely to return to the fold soon?

That was not where it ended for Lorch, however, as his club Pirates also announced that they were undergoing their own investigation on the matter.  Following that, they then announced that the player would be suspended for three games. While the process seems to be on going, with no official word yet on the player’s future with the team, a source close to the Buccaneers camp has reportedly told Soccer-Laduma that ‘Nyoso’ as the player is affectionately known as, should be allowed to continue his career at the club.

“He (Lorch) is likely to return to continue from where he le off on the field. The club is investigating the matter but the player’s contract is unlikely to be affected. In terms of his contribution to the club, he remains an important member of the team,” said the source to same publication.

It still remains to be seen what the final outcome of the investigation will be from Pirates, and what  future holds for Lorch at the club.
