Orlando Pirates will soon welcome Evidence Makgopa back from injury. He’s set to feature in the Buccaneers’ next fixture too.

MAKGOPA TO RETURN FOR ORLANDO PIRATES

According to Soccer-Laduma, Bafana Bafana striker Evidence Makgopa is not far from a return to action for the Sea Robbers.

“He (Makgopa) is doing well and should be ready for the next match later this month. The injury isn’t as bad as it was initially feared. The international break should be enough to allow him to recover and he should be ready to continue where he left off when the season resumes. He remains an important member of the squad,” said the source.

Jose Riveiro’s side next meet Sekhukhune on Saturday 30 March at 17:45. All the signs point to Makgopa being available for that clash.

Makgopa is a wanted man

Interest from Belgium and France for 23-year-old Evidence Makgopa has been confirmed via SuperSport journalist Selebalo Karabo Phasha. The replies to the tweet, unsurprisingly, feature some strong options from Bucs fans. The consensus seems to be that Makgopa is welcome to leave at the right price. The theories range between R30 million and R50 million. Both, and anything in between, are plausible if the right bidders arrive at the table. PIRATES KEEN ON NEDBANK CUP STAR

In transfer news, according to iDiski Times, Pirates have made a formal enquiry for 24-year-old Muzomuhle Khanyi who represented South Africa at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland back in 2019. The Hungry Lions striker was previously on the books of Bidvest Wits. Pirates sent their inquiry after the Buccaneers’ 4-0 defeat of Hungry Lions in the Round of 16 of this year’s Nedbank Cup. Defending champions Pirates travel to AmaZulu in the quarter-finals. Carling Knockout winners Stellenbosch face Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United, while relative minnows TS Galaxy and Chippa will battle for a place in the final four and surely enjoy their day in the sun. AmaTuks, the only side left in the competition not plying their trade in South Africa’s top tier, face the daunting prospect of a clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
