ORLANDO PIRATES GIVE MABASA UPDATE

After spending last season on loan at Sekhukhune United, where he enjoyed 20 appearances that included two goals and two assists, the 26-year-old from Bloemfontein’s Botshabelo is linked with a move to Swallows, along with Bongani Sam.

“Bongani Sam and Tshegofatso Mabasa: currently in discussions with Swallows FC to finalise move to the Dube Birds,” Pirates reported on 7 July.

MASABA RESPONDS TO SWALLOWS REPORTS

After an encouraging COSAFA Cup run with Bafana Bafana this month, where he scored three goals to finish as a joint-top goal-scorer with Zambia’s Albert Kangwanda, Mabasa does not want to give too much details but is nevertheless sounding keen on becoming a Dube Bird.

“So far, I can’t mention anything on that yet (joining Swallows). I’m going back to Joburg and I will sit down with my agent and see what options we have and take it from there,” Mabasa said via Sowetan.

“I love coach Steve. He is one of the best coaches in the country; yes, people criticise him for not winning trophies before but he is one of the best coaches, to be honest. How many players are coming from his coaching and went on to do well?

“It will definitely be a great opportunity to be working with him again. As of yet, I don’t know anything. I will only know when I’m back and [after speaking] with my agent,” the former Grey College student added.
