CHIPPA SAY GOODBYE TO BUCS-BOUND WINGER

Pirates preparing for the future. The latest youngster to come up is Azola Matrose from Chippa United.

Matrose, aged 19, was hot for just a couple of games in 2021/22 before the Buccaneers surprised us all by signing the Gqeberha-born winger before also keeping him on loan with the Chilli Boys last season.

After as little as 16 appearances that included two goals last term, Pirates recalled Matrose for pre-season in Johannesburg and Spain before making a new decision.

The club have now decided Matrose will be in Soweto next season.

Having returned to Gqeberha to say goodbye to his family and friends, Matrose also stopped by Chippa’s training to pass his gratitude to the club that discovered him in Motherwell as a school boy.

Meanwhile, Matrose could start this Saturday at 20:00 as the Sea Robbers take on Stellenbosch in the Cape.
