Match officials and referees are in the spotlight this weekend as Orlando Pirates assistant Mandla Ncikazi argues that Mamelodi Sundowns benefit from poor refereeing.

Ncikazi was addressing the media ahead of the MTN8 final showdown between Sundowns and Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.

Speaking about referees, Ncikazi said they are witnessing bad decisions going in favour of Sundowns but they decide to remain mum.

According to iDiski Times, the former Golden Arrows boss Ncikazi, addressed an event where PSL acting CEO and Arrows chairlady Mato Madlala and Sports minister Zizi Kodwa were in attendance.

Looking at the most recent encounter between the two CAF Champions League winners, Pirates, and Sundowns, Ncikazi received marching orders in the DStv Premiership.

The ex-Maritzburg United mentor was visibly angered by match officials at Orlando Stadium and he was shown a red card as Pirates lost 1-0.

“For the benefits of the game, I’m not the most intelligent in the room or in the country,” said Ncikazi.

“Let’s see and the truth is in front of us. I hope fairness prevails in football and it’s not like we don’t know what is happening, we all see but we pretend as if we don’t see.

PIRATES MENTOR UNHAPPY AS SUNDOWNS GET FAVOURS

In Addition, Ncikazi credited Madlala for giving him and Sundowns assistant mentor Manqoba Mngqithi an opportunity at Arrows.

The duo, Ncikazi and Mngqithi, lifted the Wafa Wafa trophy with Arrows during the 2009/10 season, beating Ajax Cape Town 6-0 at Orlando Stadium.

“It is funny and coincident that Sisi Mato is here, she is an acting CEO, she gave both of us an opportunity (me and Mngqithi),” he said.

“The first time we tested the cup trophy, we were working together. More than anything she groomed me for a long period.

“The coach that I am and the man that I am, she has got so much contribution.”
