Orlando Pirates are going into the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns as underdogs.

The Buccaneers have had a bad record against the Brazilians of late and many soccer fans are expecting the Soweto giants to lose the final.

The two teams already met this season and Downs won 1-0 despite dominating the Sea Robbers for the entire match.

Both sides will play each other in the final for the first time in more than 15 years.

The match takes place Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.

The coastal city is expected to come alive as the two titans of South African football battle it out for what is the first available piece of silverware in the new season. Orlando Pirates are looking for their first win over Downs in four games.

It’s a much-anticipated match-up that sees the Soweto Giants go in search of their third triumph in the competition in the space of four years, while their Tshwane counterparts look to reclaim the trophy they last hoisted in 2021.

Orlando Pirates have no injured players on their list but Sundowns could be without four to five players on Saturday.

The game starts at 18:00 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL and SABC 1.
