ex-Orlando Pirates coach to take over from Steve Komphela at Mamelodi Sundowns – Report

A former Orlando Pirates coach looks set to join Rhulani Mokwena at Mamelodi Sundowns. He could even be replacing Steve Komphela.

Former Pirates first-team performance analysis, Michael Loftman looks set to take over from Komphela.

Rhulani Mokwena wants to develope his own technical team. So, he has earmarked Loftman as the potential next assistant coach of Sundowns.

FORMER PIRATES COACH TO JOIN SUNDOWNS?

Mokwena is interested in signing Loftman on as his new assistant coach.

“It has been reported that Mokwena is keen to elevate Michael Loftman to assistant coach from set-play coach with Komphela having left a void in the PSL champions’ technical team,” the report read on Goal.

Furthermore, this comes just days after Komphela left the Brazilians to take over at Moroka Swallows.

Loftman recently joined Sundowns’ technical team. Now, Mokwena ants to elevate him to assistant coach where he ill join Manqoba Mngqithi.

He was the first team analysis coach of Pirates in 2018 and he was head coach of the Under-23’s.

Therefore, like Mokwena, he could become the second coach with history at Pirates to take up a coaching position with The Brazilians first team.

EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE FOR EX-BUCS MAN

Loftman has experience working in England having worked with Tottenham(2011-13). He was the Football Development Coach during this time,

“He worked for Tottenham Hotspur Development and Watford FC academy where he met current Manchester United star Jadon Sancho,” the source stated on the same publication.
