Orlando Pirates return to DStv Premiership action this evening when they host Cape Town Spurs at the Orlando Stadium.

Jose Riveiro’s side will be desperate to build on from their previous victory over Polokwane City.

The Buccaneers can move into second position on the DStv Premiership log standings should they pick up maximum points tonight.

Spurs on the other hand will be looking to make it three victories on the bounce in 2024.

Ernst Middendorp’s side remain rock bottom on the standings however they’re now just three points behind Richards Bay.

Middendorp hoping for more of the same

“Let’s go there and try to do the best in the moment, of course we prepared, of course we watched the game,” Middendorp said as quoted by FarPost.

“I will start now preparing myself for Orlando Pirates. A day more means a lot in this time to have a day more as recovery. We have to work good now, for example the nutrition inside the dressing room already. The ice bath, you can’t do anything really.

“In the moment we have to hope Luvuyo [Phewa], Asanele [Velebayi], Liam [Bern], Chumani [Butsaka] will recover. It’s difficult somehow but we will try to get a certain formation into a certain concept and then we wait and see.

“We have to decide, I don’t want to break it, we definitely keep our basic fundamentals right against Orlando Pirates.”
