Maponyane told The South African, “I think he started well and was reliable. But when he got back from the injury, this is where he struggled.” Maponyane further elaborated, “Maybe because of lack of both fitness and confidence. On the other hand, the nature of players [at Chiefs] weren’t helping his cause either.”

Regarding Nurkovic’s departure, Maponyane emphasised the necessity for Kaizer Chiefs to make a pragmatic decision.
