Former Buccaneers skipper Edelbert Dinha has identified Orlando Pirates’ greatest strength under coach Jose Riveiro.

Dinha has been impressed with how the Spaniard has the midfield purring and gave Riveiro his backing in a recent interview with FARPost.

Orlando Pirates’ greatest strength is their midfield

While Pirates have had their struggles up front their ability to boss the middle of the park is the envy of most clubs in the Premiership.

“They have assembled a good team, and I’m impressed with the midfield options that we have,” Dinha told FARPost.

“They [midfielders] just have to be consistent in their peformances game-after game. Also the coach Jose Riveiro is very good for the team.

“Pirates got good-solid midfielders in Miguel Timm, Thabang Monare, Phillip Ndlondlo and Fortune Makaringe, Makhehleni Makhaula, Katlego Otladisa and Karim Kimvuidi.”

Dinha was particularly impressed with Karim Kimvuidi who joined Pirates from relegated Maritzburg United at the start of the season.

“Also, they got the midfielder they got from Maritzburg United, Kimvuidi. Such a talented player, he performs very well, and he only needs to be consistent. This will help him to unlock his full potential and reach his highest level,” he added.

Riveiro is out to develop his players and hopes that he can help the likes of Kimvuidi and others fulfill their potential and become more complete players.

“We have an excellent group. What you see, everyone can see. These types of players like Karim [Kimvuidi], fans want to see him.

“But we want to help him to be more complete as a football player. Nowadays in football, they need to be competitive in every aspect. It’s not enough with three or four aspects.

“You will need to be more consistent in every aspect and not be too good or so good in two or three aspects. With players like him, we are trying to [make] him complete because he has all the conditions to be an exceptional player, more frequent and consistent.

“It’s going to happen, it’s a question of time. I’m 100% sure, it will happen. As a human being, Karim is a lovely guy and is always trying to do his best. He is always trying to integrate himself in a group that has talented players as well,” Riveiro said.
