Orlando Pirates might’ve dipped into the market in January, but they have also used their academy to bolster their squad.

Pirates made two signings in Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha from Chippa United and SuperSport United respectfully.

Lebitso joins the Pirates camp as a free agent, while Mbatha is believed to be on loan from SuperSport. Mbatha is expected to make his loan move permanent at the end of the current campaign. Lebitso on the other hand, is set for some competition on the right side of the field. This after this publication had reported that young right-back Jabulani Mokone has been promoted to the senior team. The player, has, however been yet to make his first team debut, as he was injured at the turn of the year.

According to The Citizen, Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has made a promise of game time to Mokone.

Mokone to make Pirates first team debut?

“A lot of people have been asking why Mokone is not playing in the (Pirates) first team. But why they don’t understand is that there is a process that a player has to go through before playing in the senior team. Another thing is that you have to look at his position, the players who are playing there are doing a great job, so, there is no need to change. It is just a matter of time for Mokone, he will get his chance to play. The coach (Riveiro) told him to keep on working because he has a great potential. He is part of the first team, it’s just that he has to wait for his chance. If you remember well, the same thing happened with Rele (Relebohile Mofokeng), who is a regular now.” Said the source.

It now remains to be seen if Mokone will get his debut for Pirates this season, or next season.
