Kaizer Chiefs released a statement saying Khama Billiat refused to sign a new contract and ignored the Club’s calls.
The future of the Zimbabwean winger had been the talk of the pre-season, and it seemed it was far from complete.

His situation at Kaizer Chiefs might end up being one of the most controversial and talked about of the transfer window.
The Club have opened up on their relationship with Khama, saying they offered him a contract, which he refused.
After not responding to their offer, they made phone calls to contact him, and he did not answer.
This statement left many fans with mixed emotions trying to figure out what happened.

Below is the complete statement of Kaizer Chiefs’ update on Khama Billiat.
“Following the expiry of attacking midfielder Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs contract on 30 June 2023, the Club tabled a new offer for the Zimbabwean marksman to remain with Amakhosi. However, to date, the player has not responded to the offer or any attempts to contact him.”

“Billiat was last seen at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on 29 June and has not answered any of the calls made or messages sent to him by the Club.” it reads.
“The team is currently in camp with all the players, yet Billiat, who is also expected to be there with his teammates, failed to show up and is currently nowhere to be found.” the statement ends.

Most fans were disappointed with the situation as they liken it to the PSG/Mbappe situation.
