Teenage striker, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has become the latest Kaizer Chiefs player to have his season cut short by injury

The 19-year-old joined Amakhosi’s first in December, shortly after coach Ernst Middendorp’s arrival, and made his debut in the 1-0 win over Maritzburg United before starting the one-all draw against Supersport United on Friday.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that the youngster would play no part in the rest of their campaign after picking up an Achilles tendon injury which will aslo see him miss the Fifa Under-20 World Cup, which begins in a little under two-months time in Poland.

Kaizer Chiefs injury horrors

The Glamour Boys have had horrid luck when it comes to injuries in the 2018/19 seasn, losing key players at crucial stages of the campaign.

The likes of Willard Katsande, Leonardo Castro, Lebogang Manyama and Khama Billiat have all spent some time on the sidelines, while some have seen their season ended by injury.

Out of all the players who have had the misfortune of spending a huge chunk of the season watching the action from the stands or at home, teenage sensation Wiseman Meyiwa experienced the worst of the lot as a car accident left him in a wheelchair, ending his career at just 19.

The midfielder was the second Chiefs player to suffer a motor accident in a space of two months, as Manyama had fractured his elbow after crashing his car just weeks prior.

The injury list at Naturena currently features the likes of skipper Itumeleng Khune, who is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, as well as experienced defender Eric Matoho.
