Over the last 24 hours, it is believed that Chiefs have made their first moves to replace Zwane, having made an approach to Nasreddine Nabi of Yanga SC.

It is believed that Chiefs had always wanted to appoint a senior coach, even with initial appointment of Zwane. The club started their search internally and offered former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntsako the opportunity. He reportedly turned down the opportunity, in favour of his current duties, where he oversees all of the footballing matters at both junior and senior level at the club.

It was also then thought thought that Chiefs were exploring the likelihood of making an approach for Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi. That possibility seemed to end as soon as his agent Mike Makaab confirmed that he was still contracted to the Chloorkop-based side for another year.

Last week, this publication also reported that Chiefs also considered making an approach for experienced coach Cavin Johnson. Nothing seemed to come from that, however, but now there seems to be another coach with experience in North Africa that has come on to Amakhosi’s radar. That being Nabi, but if he is to take over, he will reportedly not be as a senior coach, but as a head coach.

Nabi to replace Zwane at Chiefs next week?

What is even more worrying for Zwane is the fact that Nabi has reportedly told Chiefs that should he agree to take over, he will like to bring his own coaching staff to the Soweto giants. Now according to iDiski Times, should Amakhosi agree to his demands, he could be unveiled as their new head coach as early as next week!

It remains to be seen if Chiefs would agree to remove Zwane from the first team picture completely, or they could try and reach a compromise with Nabi to keep him in his technical team.
