At the end of the previous season, Chiefs made a massive clear out, getting rid of some experienced players, some of which had not been able to lead Amakhosi to any silverware during their lengthy stays at the club. It is expected that they will also undergo a similar exodus that could see several players forced through the exit door.

After that, Chiefs invested in players who were either younger or in their prime years, like Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, George Matlou, Dillon Solomons and Yusuf Maart to name but a few. Now, even though the club has not officially announced the likes of Mdantsane and Mismango yet, it has been an open secret for a while now that the duo will be donning the colours of Amakhosi next season.

What could be a surprise transfer for Chiefs, however, would be the signing of Gabadinho Mhango, who turned out for their arch rivals Orlando Pirates just two seasons ago. The player was once regarded as a key player and a big attacking threat in the Pirates side, but quickly fell out of favour at the Soweto giants due to a mixture of injuries and disciplinary reasons.

But Mhango, could soon see himself in favour at yet another Soweto giant, in Chiefs. The Glamour boys were already thought to be interested in his service while he was still a Pirates player, but that always looked like an improbable move. Now, with the Malawian international now rumoured to be on the verge of being released by AmaZulu, goal.com sources seem to believe that he is on the radar of Amakhosi.

Mhango’s one condition to Chiefs

Mhango, however, is thought to only be willing to sign for Chiefs on one condition.

“Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to pounce on the former Orlando Pirates striker as they look to bolster their attack with more experienced players ahead of next season. Mhango would rather go to a team that will give him security in terms of a long-term contract. If Chiefs give him a one-year deal, that would mean they do not really see the value and experience that he would bring to the side”- said a source to the above mentioned website.
