Orlando Pirates are set to announce the signing of Marumo Gallants winger Katlego Otladisa very imminently, if the latest reports are to be believed.

According to the latest, Pirates and Gallants have reached an agreement on a transfer fee for Otladisa, which will see him end up at Mayfair.

After being released by Mamelodi Sundowns not too long ago, due to extensive injury issues, the speedy winger has revived his career successfully at Gallants, being one of the key reasons the club reached the Nedbank Cup finals two seasons ago. That run saw the likes of the Buccaneers and Chiefs credited with interest in his services for the past two transfer windows.

It later became obvious, however, that Chiefs were  no longer interested in Otladisa, but the links with Pirates had not disappeared. In fact, they only increased. Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr had already confirmed on national radio that the club had never even looked in the direction of the player.

For Pirates, however, the rumours have persisted, with thought that they are planning to make a formal offer in due course. It was also thought that Gallants had told interested clubs that they would have to part ways with R5 million to get the player who now has one more year left on his deal with the club.

Now late last week, this publication reported that Pirates and Gallants were at an advanced stage of their negotiations. Now it is believed that the deal has progressed so much that Otladisa already knows the amount of years he will be signing on the dotted lines for, ahead of his move to the Soweto giants.

Five-year deal for Otladisa at Pirates?

“The Siya crew has been informed that the Buccaneers have tabled a five-year offer for the marauding 26-year-old that will see him stay at the club until at least 2026. The crew understands that the deal tabled is a straight three-year deal, which includes a two-year option.” Wrote Soccer-Laduma

If that turns out to be true, then Pirates are clearly looking to tie down Otladisa for the long-run, showing great belief in his abilities.
