It’s been unreal drama like we’ve never ever seen before. Moroka Swallows’ dismissed 22 players have been invited to the office.

MOROKA SWALLOWS DISMISS 22 PLAYERS

As reported in November, the club released 22 players after they had protested over unpaid salaries in December.

Following a week of silence, Swallows have now invited the players to collect their clearances.

The club will then deposit the December salaries but will only cover 14 days’ work rather than a full month.

SAFPU SLAM THE CLUB

Meanwhile, the South African Football Players Union (Safpu), secretary-general, Nhlanhla Shabalala, has accused Swallows of barbaric behaviour.

“This narrated that players needed to be paid in advance,” Shabalala said via The Sowetan.

“It was not about December. It is about all outstanding salaries from the other months and this has been long coming.

“In the past, players would plead and say we won’t be able to make it to training because we have run out of funds. We borrowed from friends and families and we have exhausted all avenues.

“But instead of being helped, they were fined for not coming to training. Now you can understand what we are dealing with. This is barbaric behaviour that does not respect and protect the contract of these players,” Shabalala concluded.

Meanwhile, Swallows’ next match is away to Cape Town City on Wednesday, 14 February.
