Moroka Swallows charged for misconduct, says PSL

Moroka Swallows were slapped with charges of misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute.

The Premier Soccer League(PSL) Disciplinary Committee have slapped the Dube Birds with charges after the Soweto giants failed to honour their last two DStv Premiership fixtures of 2023.

The root cause of the unexpected no-show lies in a dispute over the unpaid salaries of players.

“I can confirm that yesterday Moroka Swallows Football Club was charged for misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute pursuant to their failure to honour fixtures that were scheduled for the 27th and 30th of December 2023 respectively,” said the PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu.  

“They will appear before the PSL DC on the 11th of January 2024 at 11:00am at the offices of the league. 

“Once that matter is finalised, only then will I give further update on the outcome of the DC proceedings. Until then, there will be no further commentary on this matter as per usual,” said Majavu.

Swallows have apologised to fans in a statement before the Downs match was never played.

“On behalf of Moroka Swallows FC, an apology is extended to all affected parties due to the cancellation of the following games against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Goldern Arrows FC,” Swallows said in a statement.
