Mamelodi Sundowns set to sign yet another top Stellenbosch FC talent!

Having just announced the signing of Argentinian playmaker Junior Mendieta, Mamelodi Sundowns are set to seal a deal for another!

Mendieta was announced on a four-year deal by Sundowns, leaving Stellenbosch after three seasons at the Cape Winelands side.

Sundowns were able to move swiftly for Mendieta, upon hearing failing to agree fresh terms with Haashim Domingo. They were able to blow the likes of other interested parties such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United when they reportedly triggered his release clause which was thought to be around R12 million.

Now having done that, it is believed that Sundowns have gone back to raid Stellenbosch this time for one of their younger talents. According to FARPost, the Brazilians are thought to be close to wrapping up for Ibraheem Jabaar .

Jabaar close to Sundowns move?

“Ibraheem Jabaar arrived at Chloorkop on Tuesday carrying some luggage bags, So at this stage is really unclear what’s the arrangement. But if a player from outside Gauteng come to Sundowns with luggage, you can expect him to join the club. I mean this would be a high profile signing for Sundowns looking at Jabaar’s contribution at Stellenbosch.” Said a source to the same publication.

Sundowns have already announced the signings of two players thus far, with former Marumo Gallants attacker Lesiba Nku joining Mendieta at the club. It is thought that, besides Jabaar the players Masandawana are thought to be interested in are another Stellenbosch star in Olwethu Makhanya and SuperSport United teenage sensation Thapelo Maseko. They are believed to have given their rivals a final ‘take it or leave it’ offer for the 19-year-old who has also attracted the interest of clubs abroad.

It now seems as if Jabaar’s move to Sundowns is at its final stages and it could only be a matter of time before there is an official announcement.
