Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ricardo Nascimento explains why he’s STILL home in Brazil

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Ricardo Nascimento has reportedly confirmed he’ll be back at training next month.

The Brazilians returned to pre-season three weeks ago already, ahead of the start of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership where they will look to not only defend their title, but be crowned champions of South Africa for a fifth consecutive time – and 12th overall.

However, the 34-year-old centre-back has yet to join his team-mates and is currently still at home in Brazil.

Speaking to Kickoff, Ricardo Nascimento explained that there are no issues with the club and that he is home for personal reasons.

“I had family problems in Brazil. I asked Sundowns for one more month to solve them. [I am coming back] next month.

“I am training here to get ready for the new season.”

Mamelodi Sundowns kick off the new DStv Premiership season with a mouth-watering clash against last season’s runners-up AmaZulu on Friday, 20 August at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
