Willard Katsande has penned a heartfelt letter following Tuesday’s announcement by Kaizer Chiefs that the Zimbabwean veteran would be leaving Naturena after a decade at the club.

Amakhosi confirmed a number of departures, contract extensions and new signings on Tuesday ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Along with 35-year-old Katsande’s exit, Kgotso Moleko, Philani Zulu and Brylon Petersen will also be saying goodbye to the club.

In addition, Yagan Sasman, Lazalous Kambole and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya have been put on the transfer list, bring to SEVEN the number of likely departures.

During his time at the Soweto giants, “Salt and Vinegar” as Willard Katsande is affectionately known, set the record for the number of appearances by a foreigner – 326.

Willard Katsande also won four trophies during his stay, namely two PSL titles (2012/13, 2014/15), the Nedbank Cup (2013) and MTN8 title (2014).

To offset the seven players leaving the club, Kaizer Chiefs extended the contracts of FIVE veterans and confirmed the signings of Keagan Dolly and Cole Alexander.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must leave my beloved Kaizer Chiefs family,” Katsande wrote in a lengthy letter posted on social media.

“I am honoured and eternally grateful to the chairman of the club, Mr Kaizer Motaung, for granting me the opportunity to represent this great institution over the past 10 years.
