Ex-Sundowns and Pirates midfielder resurfaces at Chippa United

A former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder has resurfaced at Chippa United where he’s looking for a SIXTH stint.

A former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder has resurfaced at Chippa United where he’s looking for a SIXTH stint.

Thamsanqa Sangweni has started training with Chippa United although there is no talk of a possible deal at this stage.

This is according to iDiski Times who reports that Sangweni is in Durban with Chippa United for their pre-season training.

Sangweni, 34, was most recently on the books of ABC Motsepe League outfit Peace Makers who happen to be Chippa United’s feeder team.

But whether or not he was invited by the Chippa United to be part of the senior team under Morgan Mammila remains to be seen.

Sangweni hasn’t been too fortunate in his career since leaving AmaZulu for Sundowns in 2012. Things became worse for him at Pirates between 2017 and 2018.

EX-SUNDOWNS AND PIRATES MIDFIELDER BACK AT CHIPPA UNITED

“iDiskiTimes can confirm that Sangweni joined Chippa for their pre-season in Durban, but there’s been no talk of signing a deal as things stand,” reports the publication.

“If the deal goes through, it will be the sixth time Sangweni would be the sixth time he would join Chippa after three loan spells and two permanent moves.”
