Mamelodi Sundowns supporters have a new name to learn to pronounce: Matías Esquivel. Here’s why the Argentian chose a move to Africa.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SIGN ARGENTINE STAR
The 24-year-old Esquivel arrived last month from Argentina’s Lanus on a reported R46 million deal.

Soon after signing a generous four-and-a-half year deal with Sundowns, Esquivel introduced himself to the fans.

REASONS FOR SIGNING
Speaking via the club’s magazine, the midfielder revealed why he said yes to the offer.
“I am very happy to be here and joining this great club is the right step for my career,” Esquivel told Sundowns’ Digital Magazine.
“When my representatives informed me about the move to Mamelodi Sundowns, I knew that it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
