There’s a new tournament called the African Football League. Only VIPs like Mamelodi Sundowns are allowed to enter.

We’ve all heard of the new African Football League by now – and how Mamelodi Sundowns will be the only local club in it.

As the Confederation of African Football League confirmed, the new African Football League is a fresh face.
Also known as the AFL, it will be an annual event that will kick off in October. Africa’s eight highest-ranked teams will begin the first edition before the tournament becomes a 24-team competition in 2024–25 and will not replace the CAF Champions League.

According to reports, the AFL, which exists to empower African clubs financially and attract European scouts, will have a staggering R76 million prize for the champions.
Local giants Sundowns will battle in the quarter-finals against Angolan powerhouse Pedro Luanda on 21 October in East Africa before the return leg in Tshwane on the 24th.
