Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango has no plans to retire as he has set his sights on winning more league titles in South Africa.

Onyango, 36, recently won his eighth league medal, and he holds that record with his Sundowns teammate Hlompho Kekana.

What makes Onyango proud is that he never stopped after winning his first three league medals as a very young player in the game.

“We are privileged that we are playing at Sundowns, and the target is to always win the league,” said Onyango as per The Citizen.

“It is not going to be easy to find a youngster who wins nine or 10 league titles because sometimes youngsters get to two or three league titles, and they stop,” he added.

Onyango said if he were to retire now, he would be remembered as one of the most decorated foreign internationals to have played in the PSL.

However, that’s not crossed his mind at this point as he wants to win at least two more league titles to make it 10 in total.

“When I retire, it will remain that Denis is one of the most decorated foreigners with eight league titles,” Onyango said.

“No one is going to come from outside and win eight league titles because sometimes they play for two or three seasons then they go,” he continued.

Onyango added: “But it is up to them, whoever comes must take me on because I want to reach 10 titles I need to keep going.”

“I have never heard anyone saying my medals are enough, and that’s what drives me,” added Onyango.
