Mamelodi Sundowns forced to move FIVE games from Loftus

Mamelodi Sundowns will be forced to move at least FIVE of their opening home fixtures away from the Loftus Versveld Stadium.

Mamelodi Sundowns will be forced to move at least FIVE of their opening home fixtures away from the Loftus Versveld Stadium.

This is because the pitch at the venue will be going under renovation, and the project is only expected to be completed in late October.

According to a statement issued to suites owners at Loftus Versveld Stadium, Blue Bulls Company (BBCo) said there are talks in place to find an alternative venue.

Sundowns were supposed to host Kaizer Chiefs on 9 August before welcoming Moroka Swallows to the same venue in the MTN8 on 12 August.

The Brazilians’ second home league match is against Golden Arrows on 19 August, but it has been affected, and so has the match against Chippa United on 16 September.

Sundowns are also due to play their CAF Champions League second-leg match on 29 September before hosting Stellenbosch FC in the league.

However, the league will most likely postpone the Stellenbosch FC game as it is pencilled for 30 September, a day after the said CAF Champions League match.

Swallows are likely to be the first team to play Sundowns at Loftus Versveld Stadium this season, as the two teams have a league date on 29 October.
