Mamelodi Sundowns joined by Anderlecht in Teboho Mokoena chase!

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly been joined by Belgian giants Anderlecht in their pursuit for SuperSport United’s Teboho Mokoena.

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly been joined by Belgian giants Anderlecht in their pursuit for SuperSport United‘s Teboho Mokoena.

According to Daily Sun, both Anderlecht and Sundowns have tabled offers for Mokoena – and SuperSport United are considering them.

This comes after a lot was said about Mokoena and his future in the current transfer window, with reports indicating that the Olympian may move to Sundowns.

MILLIONS OF RANDS TO SECURE MOKOENA’S SERVICES

According to the same publication, Anderlecht have tabled a R20 million offer for the services of Mokoena.

However, they are only looking to sign him at the end of the season in preparation for the 2022-23 Belgian season.

Sundowns, on the other hand, are believed to have submitted an offer around R25 million for Mokoena, and they want him before the end of the January transfer window.

ANDERLECHT OR SUNDOWNS: WHO COULD WIN THE RACE?

Just weeks ago, Sundowns appeared to be leading the race for Mokoena’s signature but SuperSport United have often made it clear that they want to sell their star midfielder abroad.

SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews even revealed that Mokoena had attracted interest from an unnamed UAE club – something the club wants as they are reluctant to sell locally.

Mokoena, himself, is believed to be keen on a move abroad – and the latest developments regarding Anderlecht could somehow disadvantage Sundowns.

Sundowns may be banking on the R25 million offer for Mokoena’s signature, but both the player and SuperSport United want a move abroad and, therefore, the 24-year-old could opt to sign for Anderlecht.

Anderlecht are coached by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany who recruited Mokoena’s teammate at Bafana Bafana, Percy Tau not so long ago from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Another former PSL star in Knowledge Musona was also, at one stage, on the books of Anderlecht, and perhaps that could motivate Mokoena to push for the move instead of moving to Sundowns.
