Pirates announced the signings of Melusi Buthelezi, Sephelo Baloni, Katlego Otladisa, Patrick Maswanganyi and Lesedi Kapinga who has just joined as a free agent following his release from Mamelodi Sundowns. Adding to that list are players the club did not make formal announcements of, which are Cebo Mchunu, a 21-year-old midfielder they signed from Bizana Pondo in the ABC Motsepe League. That was not their only purchase from the third division, however, as Dondol Stars confirmed they have released goalkeeper Siphamandla Gumede to Pirates on Monday. Both players are believed to be on the loan list, with the Buccaneers management looking to park them at either a club in the DStv Premiership or the Motsepe Foundation Championship for next season.

Now one of the players that was expected to be joining that list of Pirates exits is midfielder Fortune Makaringe. Makaringe found himself as a bit part player in the Buccaneers midfield last season, and rumours suggested he would be on his way to Sekhukhune United. But then, he was taken on the clubs tour to Spain and given a last chance to impress and now, according to Soccer-Laduma he has done exactly that!

Makaringe to stay at Pirates

“The (Pirates) technical team had made recommendations to the club on which players they want to register for next season and Fortune (Makaringe) is one of those players, Last season it had seemed that the technical team was not sure if he would be part of the squad. His dedication and commitment since then have changed the opinion of the technical team. They want him to stay for at least this season,” said the source to the same publication.
