The Kaizer Chiefs job is arguably the most daunting post in the South African football fraternity with the nine-year proof!

Chiefs have failed to win a trophy in the last nine-years, a period in which they’ve reached three finals.

Because of this, Chiefs have searched far and wide for an established coach, who can help turn their fortunes around. A shortlist of Pitso Mosimane, Alexandre Santos and Nasreddine Nabi, was reportedly drawn up for the job. Recent developments, however, suggest that the there is now only horse left in the race, and that is the latter.

Nabi favourite for Chiefs job

This publication reported on Monday that Chiefs and Santos did talk but could not agree on a deal, as per. That information coming from the coach himself. The publication went on further to report that the coach left Petro de Luanda because he thought he would make the switch. On Wednesday the publication also reported that Mosimane’s saga with Amakhosi may be over. This after the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach confirmed there had been no approach by the club.

This has seemingly left Nabi with an open goal. He seems to relish the pressure of working for a big club like Chiefs. That pressure of scrutiny to deliver at such a giant of a club, however, is not for everyone. One of those who isn’t quite up to it yet, by his own admission is Morgan Mammila.

According to KickOff.com, the former Chippa United technical director and coach Mamilla says he isn’t ready for the Chiefs challenge yet.

Mamilla runs away from it!

“I am not yet ready for Chiefs. Let me get my A Licence first, then we can talk. But I am going to knock on doors like everyone looking for a job. I am home to see my parents. The last time I saw them four months ago. I am talking about 100 years (old), my grandmother, and 82 years (old), my mother. It’s time for me to spend time with them, surely something will come,” Mammila said to the publication.

It’s not clear what the nature of the conversation was. But it would be a massive shock if Mammila was ever close to contention for the Chiefs job.
