Kapinga’s handler on what lured the ex-Sundowns star to Pirates

Lesedi Kapinga’s handler has opened up on what lured ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player to Orlando Pirates over PSL rivals.

Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player Lesedi Kapinga’s agent opens up on what lured his client to Orlando Pirates over PSL rivals.

Moses Mudau revealed that his client, Kapinga was targeted by a number of DStv Premiership clubs after his exit at Sundowns, but he opted to join Pirates.

Kapinga was unveiled by Pirates this week as they continued to bolster their midfield and his agent, says hunger drove him to Soweto.

KAPINGA’S HANDLER ON WHAT LURED EX-SUNDOWNS MAN TO PIRATES

As local media published in the past few weeks, Kapinga was targeted by several Premiership sides including Pirates bitter rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.

However, the ambition shown by coach Jose Riveiro to win trophies is what lured Kapinga to the Buccaneers’ camp.

“Kapinga is still hungry for trophies and that is the reason he chose to join Pirates,” Mudau told Isolezwe.

“Pirates will play in the Champions League next season and they still want to win trophies in the DStv Premiership space.

“On top of that, they have a strong squad capable of challenging for trophies. Kapinga felt he can contribute to that squad next season.

“There are other PSL clubs that offered good money on the table but we decided that Pirates are the only club that can help him to achieve what he wants.”

The agent also added that he has faith in Kapinga’s abilities and that he will fight for his place in the starting eleven.

RIVEIRO HEAPS PRAISE ON EX-SUNDOWNS MAN KAPINGA’S QUALITIES

The South African recently reported that the former Black Leopards star, Kapinga was praised by his new coach, Riveiro as a quality player.

While the 28-year-old star failed to impress coach Rulani Mokwena as he only made six games across all competitions at Sundowns last season, he remains ambitious.

“I know he’s a good human, first of all. He’s a good guy, a professional football player,” said Pirates coach Riveiro per TimesLIVE.

“I also know what everybody knows — that he’s a talented player with the capacity to help the team play better.”
