Legendary Kaizer Chiefs striker hits out at current players

Molefi Ntseki can’t solely be blamed for Kaizer Chiefs’ poor start to the new season according to a legendary former Amakhosi striker

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe believes the Amakhosi players need to shoulder some of the blame for the club’s stuttering start to the season.

Molefi Ntseki’s side crashed out of the MTN8 at the semi-final stage while the Amakhosi are a massive 13 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who have a game in hand.

Nomvethe however believes that Molefi Ntseki can only shoulder so much of the blame and the players need to start stepping up to the plate.

Kaizer Chiefs players need to step up – Nomvethe

“They have everything now and I think the players have to lift their socks up.” – Nomvethe said as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“We all know the blame falls to the coach for failing to win, but the players have an impact on the results because everyone looks at them since they are the ones who are playing.

“The coach can do so much by giving instructions on how they should play, but the players, even if the instructions of the coach are defeating them, do their own thing that can help the team.”

In other news, Orlando Pirates legend Joseph Kamwendo believes he’s ready to coach in South Africa.

The former Buccaneers midfielder, who represented the club between 2007 and 2011, has confirmed his desire to coach in the Premier Soccer League.

Joseph Kamwendo has obtained his necessary coaching licences and is currently coaching back home in the Malawi top flight at Bangwe All Stars.

“Whether it’s as an assistant coach at a Premiership side or I can start as a head coach at a Motsepe Foundation side. I am well qualified to coach there.” Joseph Kamwendo told SoccerLaduma.

“I know and respect the requirements of coaching in South Africa. So I had to prepare myself first before saying I am ready for that.

“Now, I can say ‘I am ready’. I would be very happy if I can be given the chance at my former team Orlando Pirates but I wouldn’t mind coaching any other team.”
