Orlando Pirates captain in name Happy Jele is yet to extend his contract with the club with just a handful of days left on his current deal.

The experienced defender has just completed 15th season with the Buccaneers which saw him lead the team to the 2020 MTN8 title – ending the club’s six-year wait for a trophy in the process.

Callies star a wanted man

Pretoria Callies star player Pogiso Mahlangu has attracted the interest of newly-promoted Sekhukune United and established PSL outfit Golden Arrows.

The attacking midfielder netted 13 goals across the 2020/21 season helping Callies to mid-table respectability, but it seems bigger things are in his future.

Callies boss Moses Malada has confirmed interest for Mahlangu from the PSL.

“There is interest from PSL clubs. He is still contracted to us but it looks likely that he will play in Premiership next season,” Malada told

Baroka FC line up replacement for Orlando Pirates recruit

Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has revealed that the Limpopo club are in advanced negotiations to acquire the services of a player seen as a direct replacement for Goodman Mosele, who is set to sign for Orlando Pirates.

Mphahlele’s team have been linked with Amatuks prospect Athenkosi Dlala, who is Mosele’s teammate in the SA U23 group and is also a midfielder in a similar mould.

The chairman would not name the player seen as a replacement for Mosele just yet, but the PSL club have confirmed the signing of TS Sporting striker Decide Chauke.

“The one boy whom we have concluded a deal with is Decide Chauke from TS Sporting. That one is a done deal, and as for the rest, we are still in negotiations with their teams because they are contracted to their respective teams. As soon as we have concluded with the negotiations, we will make that public,” Mphahlele told Soccer Laduma.

Star of the Nedbank Cup, Washington Arubi, is considering his options as his contract with Marumo Gallants FC (formerly Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila) expires.

Arubi made 33 appearances in all competitions for TTM last term and was named player of the Nedbank Cup as the club claimed their first major piece of silverware, but the Zimbabwean stopper wants to take time to assess his options before committing either way.

“It will be premature for me to say exactly where he is going, you know, but of course there’s some activity going on,” Arubi’s agent Michael Ngobeni told

“Can you imagine what he has achieved last season? And you know the vacuum of goalkeepers in PSL, already you know that of course there will be a little bit of activity going on there because you know he will be a free player soon.

“So, we are not rushing anything. He will be with the national team soon, and after that we will check what’s best for him, you know.”

Bonginkosi Ntuli will be staying at Amazulu next season after extending his contract with the KZN club.

The 30-year-old had attracted interest from the PSL’s big boys but appears to be happy to stay with Benni McCarthy’s team.

AmaZulu’s media officer Nhlanhla Mkhathini was mum on further signings but confirmed that Ntuli would be staying in Durban.

“We have not said much about players, the management is working on them. We haven’t made anything official in terms of players, so I cannot confirm or deny,” Mkhathini said.

“Ntuli, obviously, is our player, but on players we are looking to capture, we won’t be saying much at the moment until we do it all at once [in an official announcement].”

Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns want to lure Zimbabwe striker Knowledge Musona back to the PSL

Musona is set to return to Belgian giants Anderlecht after his season-long loan with their domestic rivals KAS Eupen but it is unclear how big a part he will play in the club’s future.

The 31-year-old has attracted interest from the Chinese Super League, the PSL big-three and two clubs in Belgium but his agent Mike Makaab says he will take a wait and see approach to his future.

“He’s going back to Anderlecht, he’s being asked to join the first week of July for training, he has a one year contract left with them,” Makaab told

“I’m not sure if he will be part of the squad, we’ll have to see how things unfold. The intention is to wait and see what Anderlecht want to do.

“There might be interest in South Africa, in the Middle East, could be interest in China and certain parts of Europe. But the truth is we cannot be aggressively market Knowledge until we know exactly what Anderlecht wants to do.”
