Kaizer Chiefs latest | Cole Alexander emerges as a target for Stuart Baxter

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly renewed their interest in former Bidvest Wits and Bafana Bafana midfielder Cole Alexander.

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly renewed their interest in former Bidvest Wits and Bafana Bafana midfielder Cole Alexander.

According to iDiskiTimes, Stuart Baxter is at the forefront of trying to lure Alexander from Indian Super League outfit Odisha FC.

The publication reports that the pursuit of Alexander could come at the expense of Tercious Malepe whom TheSouthAfrican.com understands his terms were submitted to Chiefs for consideration.

Malepe, 24, will be a free agent in less than a week while 32-year-old Alexander still has a year left on his current contract with Odisha.

Alexander’s working relationship with Baxter could be crucial in swinging the pendulum in his favour for the proposed Chiefs deal.

The pair worked together for almost a year at Odisha before Baxter was sacked for the rape comments he made earlier this year.

In addition, Alexander and Baxter know each other from when the now Chiefs coach was in charge of Bafana Bafana between 2017 and 2019.

This is not the first time that Chiefs are linked with Alexander as the club reportedly wanted to bring him in during Gavin Hunt’s tenure.

However, they couldn’t do so as they were still serving a two-window transfer ban handed to them by FIFA over the ineligible signing of Madagascar international Dax.
