Moroka Swallows have FIRED a total of 22 players who went on strike over over the December payment dispute. These players refused to train or play which resulted in a court appearance.

Unfortunately, for the players who went on strike they have been dismissed. Now, they find themselves as free agents. Amongst these players were a couple of former Amakhosi and Bucs stars.

EX-CHIEFS AND PIRATES PLAYERS FIRED

Former Amakhosi goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeji is one of the players who had his contract terminated.

Furthermore, ex-Pirates player, Bongani Sam finds himself in the same situation.

In fact, most of the squad has been FIRED in what is a truly shocking period for the club.

“Today 22 players have been dismissed,” Robert Marawa stated on 94.7 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Marawa mentioned some of the players dismissed.

“The players dismissed include Daniel Akpeyi, Bongani Sam, Sipho Sibiya, Lantshane Phalane, Wandisile Letlabika, Siyabonga Khumalo and Kwanda Mngonyama,” he added on the same publication.

STEVE KOMPHELA UNDER HUGE PRESSURE

Moreover, Swallows have had to forfeit both of the games they did not show up for. Now, Komphela finds himself in a truly difficult situation with more than half the squad having been fired.

Therefore, he may have to sign practically a whole new team worth of players. It remains to be seen whether the players dismissed will appeal the decision or sign new deals with the club.
