The last two head coaches of Kaizer Chiefs have been sacked after elimination from the Nedbank Cup. Needless to say, Arthur Zwane needs a result against Royal AM on Sunday.

Zwane must deliver silverware

Chiefs can still win a trophy this season, but only if it’s the Nedbank Cup. Aside from that, the club is fighting to finish second in order to qualify for the CAF Champions League. Supporters won’t see that consolation prize as much though. They need the eight-year trophy drought to end now. Now, Chiefs must beat a Royal AM side they have never beaten away from home.

Motaung Jr backs Zwane

With the club fighting for a top two finish, sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr is backing Arthur Zwane as the man to conduct a rebuild. However, elimination from the cup would be tough to swallow. In the transfer market, Zwane was the man who pushed for the club to sign Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango.

Zwane’s job is safe, for now, but his bargaining position at Naturena would be severely dented should the Glamour Boys come a cropper at Royal AM.
