Kaizer Chiefs likely to be without Kwinika in Nedbank Cup

Zitha Kwinika sustained an injury during Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Richards Bay at the weekend. It sounds as though this knock will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future at least. Coach Zwane also confirmed that his side will be without Christian Saile, who is suspended for that match after a piece of simulation that earned him a fourth booking of the season.

On the plus side, it does give Zwane a chance to rotate his side and experiment with different combinations and players.

“We started without Ashley (Du Preez), next week we will be without Zitha, who won’t be available,” said Zwane.

“Christian won’t be available due to suspension. We are struggling to keep a consistent line-up in terms of the first 11 so that we can build on it. We have been struggling to get that one right.”

Injuries mount at Naturena

Chiefs are already without Khama Billiat, Cole Alexander, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons because of long-term injuries. The Glamour Boys, despite this long injury list which has just gotten longer, will be keen to extend their current winning run of two matches. Amakhosi are level with Soweto Rivals Pirates on 34 points after 22 matches played. It’s getting tight in the race for second place.

The Glamour Boys take a break from league action this weekend when they face surprise package Casric FC in the Nedbank Cup last 16.
