Orlando Pirates fans have been celebrating a new superstar this season: Monnapule Saleng. The 24-year-old has been so prominent that his name has made it inside an amapiano studio.

As The South African reported on Sunday, Saleng’s hat-trick against Swallows FC last Friday placed in him the Buccaneers’ special record books.

The goals also made the Boitumelong-born player a strong contender for Player of the Season, with 12 goals and five assists in 17 games.

BUCS STAR MONNAPULE SALENG WINS SPECIAL AWARD

In related news, the Pirates forward is enjoying the highest success of his career. The 24-year-old has been honoured in his home province.

Following his flying success as the biggest superstar at the Buccaneers, the Bloemhof-born player has been named as the Sportsman of the Year in the North West.

The honour was confirmed by the North West Department of Cultural Affairs and Sports on Sunday.
