Kaizer Chiefs: Things went TERRIBLY the last time Hlanti missed a PSL game

Kaizer Chiefs must do without Sifiso Hlanti this weekend against Sekhukhune. Looking at the stats, this is terrible news.

Sifiso Hlanti’s influence on this Kaizer Chiefs side is immense. Things went awfully the last time he wasn’t available for a PSL match and now he’ll be absent for the clash against Sekhukhune on Sunday.

ICYMI: Hlanti suspension is more worrying than you think

The 32-year-old left-back will be unavailable for this weekend’s trip to Limpopo because of an accumulation of yellow cards. The omens aren’t good. The last time Hlanti missed a PSL match for the Glamour Boys was the 4-0 defeat to AmaZulu on January 13th. Since then, he’s started nine league matches on the bounce, scoring twice in that sequence of matches, including in the 3-2 home defeat against Arrows. Hlanti always performs, even when Chiefs don’t.

JALI or JABAAR ? That is the question for Amakhosi

Ever-present players are difficult to replace for Kaizer Chiefs

Hlanti has made 25 appearances for the Glamour Boys this term. The fact that Chiefs took a 4-0 hiding the last time he didn’t start a PSL game certainly speaks volumes about what he brings to the side too. The board will need to think long and hard about whether they hand him a one-year extension to his current contract. However, that decision seems like a no-brainer, all things considered.

Sekhukhune vs Chiefs on Sunday kicks off at 3pm.
